Massachusetts skips the standard Medigap plan letters. Instead it has a Core plan, a Supplement 1A plan, and, for those eligible for Medicare before 2020, a Supplement 1 plan. Most people just starting Medicare are choosing between Core and Supplement 1A.
Along with Minnesota and Wisconsin, Massachusetts is one of three states with a different approach to standardizing Medigap. Its plans follow the state’s own rules, so coverage, enrollment and pricing work somewhat differently than elsewhere in the country.
This guide covers every Massachusetts plan, how they stack up, what drives price and how to pick one. For national plans, see Medicare Supplement plans 2027.
