In 2027, High-Deductible Plan G (HDG) pays the same benefits as Plan G once you meet a $3,050 deductible, an increase from $2,950 in 2026. In return, its premium is usually a lot lower than standard Plan G.
HDG suits healthy people who want a safeguard against a big medical bill and prefer to pocket the premium savings. The calculation is straightforward: HDG comes out ahead when the yearly premium savings exceed the difference between the deductible and your usual spending.
